In the Streetz Records started in 1998 at 43 Dumbarton Avenue, Kingston 10 with Murray managing Mr. Vegas in addition to the distribution of CD/Vinyl records. The In the Streetz team expanded over time to include management of other artists including Hawkeye, Buccaneer, Lady G, Kiprich, Kid Kurrupt, Chico, Alozade and Jack-A-Diamond.
Murray relocated In the Streetz to The Domes, 85 Hagley Park Road where he established his recording studio and cemented his business acumen and continued successes.
Byron Murray - Founder of in the streetz records
In his earlier career, Byron Murray worked in the financial sector where he was employed by National Commercial Bank, Scotiabank and CIBC First Caribbean before starting his music career. He started to work with the Danny Browne-owned Main Street Records as road manager for that label’s acts, including Hawkeye, Chrissy D, General Degree, Goofy (now known as Mr G) and Red Rat before he hit the jackpot with Mr Vegas and started managing him, he then went on to found In The Streetz Records.
Among the hit songs Murray produced were Lock Up by Capleton, Street Dreams (Alozade), S he’s A Ho (Mr Vegas) and Red Red Red by Beenie Man. In The Streetz Records also distributed for several producers, including Donovan Bennett’s Don Corleon label ( Mad Ants and Drop Leaf rhythms), Marlon Cooke’s Pyrana Music and the late Daniel “Blaxx” Lewis ( Blackout and Egyptian rhythms). Murray produced the Bollywood rhythm which featured ‘Red Red’ by Beenie Man and Robyn, and Capleton’s ‘Lock Up’. He also produced a track on Fantan Mojah’s ‘Stronger’ album and songs on Mr Vegas’ ‘The Hits’ (2008) and ‘Hot It Up’ (2007) albums.
